Nutrition evolution is harnessing the power of nutritious food, physical activity, and current scientific research and combining them to provide services that will help you reach your health and fitness goals. 

     Finding that balance in life can be a task that most of us would rather not perform, it is difficult and it can be frustrating. We would rather have the prospect go away…a few hundred miles away, if possible. But that is what life is like sometimes and no one understands it better than me: a super-busy mom trying to juggle between work, school and family with a very tenacious little boy who needs lots of my attention.

      

     I was raised to be an advocate of fitness and nutrition and I have strived to make healthy living a priority in my life. A collegiate athlete, an avid runner, I dedicate a great deal of my free time to the cultivation of my backyard garden and delight in teaching my son the joys of growing his own food.It was my son and his birth, which changed the world for me, made me look at it differently. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that he was the one who brought me into the nutrition industry. It is even deeper than that for me, however. 

     I was a volunteer firefighter in Healdsburg and I spent 5 years working the emergency department at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. Since then I have worked on a 911 ambulance here in Sonoma County, with more than a decade of service to the community. The most important thing this taught me was: to really solve a problem you should take care of it in the beginning; prevention not cure is the best solution. So I went back to school.
     

     I spent several years exploring techniques that integrate nutrition into preventative healthcare.  Now, I am a nationally Registered Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, and Nutrition Consultant. I maintain my current certifications as an Emergency Medical Technician and Phlebotomy Technician. I have additional education and background that includes a degree in Psychology, Behavioral and Social sciences, and I am currently pursuing a Masters Degree at Boston University in Health Communication and Nutrition.
    

     I know how it feels to struggle with weight; I understand how we can feel busy and face trouble with motivation for weight loss and health. I have tried every fad diet out there and I have grappled with yo-yo effect of weight. Many of us in that situation like to think, “Who has the time for dieting and exercise?” Well, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise but…yeah, that’s you and me! No, you may not see it just yet but for us to keep up with our busy lives, it is imperative to keep balance with proper diet and exercise. 
     

     I finally came to realize why people fail to lose weight. It is because we fail to comprehend the fact that weight loss is not just a physical process, but a mental one too. I have come to see that it is immensely important to motivate your body and mind both to initiate the weight loss process and that is what I am here for. To help you build a healthier and consistent lifestyle. Weight loss, after all, is indeed a lifestyle change.
     

     I started Nutrition Evolution, my health education and nutrition consultation business as a way to support people on their journey towards a healthier self. The future of healthcare is evolving from treating chronic medical conditions to preventing them through proper nutrition and health education. My goal is to help clients in achieving and maintaining healthy habits.  I do not believe in promoting behaviors that lead to feelings of depravation or guilt.  My focus is on making progress through small steps towards the larger goal of healthy lifestyle changes. Attaining health, fitness, and wellness is a process that can be affected by many different factors and my diverse education and background has given me a unique skill set to help you reach your personal health goals. Besides my nutrition and fitness training, understanding the psychology of eating has allowed me to develop new strategies and a unique understanding of what it takes to reach and maintain results.  I can help you identify and manage your emotional triggers, and I will collaborate with you to come up with a plan that is realistic, attainable, and effective.
     

     However, this is not the only goal; I strive to teach clients how to employ the advances of scientific research for eating exactly the right kind of nutritious food, engaging in proper physical activity and combining them both for overall health and fitness. I do not believe in promoting behaviors that lead to feelings of depravation or guilt. Instead, I focus on progress through small steps towards the greater goal of a healthy life.
 It’s about time you make that all-important change in your life. Make the change and get ready to take out that old pair of perfect jeans you had to hide away in the closet a while ago.
